Objectives
The Safe Digital Boost Agenda (SDBA) 2025-2027, funded by the European Union, aims to advance the development of a single digital market in East Africa by enhancing digital trade and commerce, electronic governance, digital government and cybersecurity. The project focuses on identifying the needs, challenges, and synergies within the East African Community (EAC) and its member states. This includes developing country-specific digital government and electronic governance profiles to support regional digital integration and cross-border collaboration. Through desk research, stakeholder interviews, consultations, and engagement, the initiative seeks to inform interventions, create actionable strategies, and integrate findings into a comprehensive national and regional state-of-affairs report with actionable recommendations for each country and for the region. Synthesis digital government findings with those of parallel assignments on cyber security, electronic commerce and electronic payment in the eight EAC member states into a SDBA concept note with prioritised and actionable recommendations to be presented at the SDBA Co-Design Workshop in Arusha (TZ).
