An side event of the 26th COP26?will be held to discuss challenges and good practices for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and the 2030 Agenda.

This side event of the  will engage leading experts to discuss challenges and good practices for achieving both carbon neutrality by 2050 and the 2030 Agenda. It will facilitate discussion about the role of education and capacity building in the implementation of the Paris Agreement. The event will be held at the at COP26 in Glasgow, UK, and online.

Background

To avoid the climate crisis by limiting the global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels, many countries have committed to achieving carbon neutrality by the middle of this century. Carbon neutrality requires a transformation of economic and social systems and commitment across society to drastic action by all sectors and actors. In this context, action towards carbon neutrality requires better understanding of social challenges such as declining regional economies, widening disparities, and ageing populations, and mechanisms to address these challenges as part of action for carbon neutrality.

Participation

This event will be held on Thursday 4 November 2021, 17:00–18:30 (UTC+0) at the in Glasgow, UK (5 November 02:00–03:30 JST). Free snacks & drinks will be provided for participants.

It will also be online on the (registration not required).

This event will be held in English only.
