This project will produce a series of knowledge products including a briefing note and other communications products to support the EU-Africa Summit in 2021 and inform discussions on green transitions in Africa and the future of the EU-Africa partnerships in the context of the EU Green Deal. The work articulates the development need for greater knowledge on the implications and expectations of the Green Deal on EU-Africa partnership in trade and development, and the policy options and mutual opportunities that exist in pursuing low-carbon development trajectories.
In partnership with Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), The 糖心Vlog破解版 Institute for Natural Resources in Africa (糖心Vlog破解版-IN- RA) will work with an evidence-based perspective to raise awareness on the implications of the EU Green Deal for African economies and the opportunities for partnership. The project makes use of a knowledge consortium that includes AUC, UNECA (ACPC & ATPC), Adelphi, GiZ and AfDB.
The project has a strong communications element, planning to produce several products, such as op-eds, policy briefs, information booklets, multimedia outputs such as video animation, as well as a social media campaign. At the heart of the strategic communications plan is an ‘influencer marketing’ strategy that leverages high-level ‘Champions’ - experts in their own right - to widely disseminate our messages and knowledge products, and raise awareness. The Champions include Ibrahim Thiaw (Executive Secretary of the UNCCD), Mohamed Ibn Chambas (SRSG – UNWOAS), Youba Sokona (Vice Chair – IPCC), Camilla Toulmin (Former CEO of IPCC) and many others
It is believed that the project will go a long way towards disseminating knowledge among African policy-makers and EU stakeholders and facilitating dialogue to better inform policy options and negotiations during the EU-Africa summit focusing on green transition pathways and partnership.
