This side-event, part of the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on the Beijing+30 Review, aimed to amplify existing achievements by sharing progress on what has been accomplished through examples of advancements made in gender equality in health from the Asia Pacific region. Insights from the examples demonstrated that sustainable gender equality and health-related achievements are possible through multi-sectoral collaboration and collective action. The session also provided a space to reflect on how to build on successes in light of the three areas in the call to action.
In this discussion, we:
- Shared diverse examples of advances in gender equality in health in the Asia Pacific Region. This included transferable approaches and opportunities that can be leveraged to overcome challenges, strengthen gender responsive health systems, accelerate progress, and sustain current achievements.
- Strategized ways to accelerate progress by translating evidence into policy and action leveraging the three areas detailed in the call to action.
Leveraged the collective call for action and commitments for prioritising gender and health equity within the region through communication and dissemination.
